Russia’s failure in Ukraine puts Putin’s allies against each other
Russia’s withdrawal from the strategic city of Lyman in Donetsk, which drew reactions from the world with the decision to annex 4 regions of Ukraine, increased the reactions to the army in Russia. While the leader of Chechnya, Ramazan Kadyrov, accused the Russian army of “incompetence”, oligarch Yevgeni Prigozin, who is close to Putin, targeted Russian commanders with the words “Send these pieces of garbage to the front with bare feet”.
The withdrawal of the Russian army from Lyman city of Donetsk, which was besieged by Ukrainian soldiers, immediately after Russia announced that Ukraine had annexed Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhia and Kherson regions, brought the Kremlin and its allies face to face .
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced at a ceremony held in Moscow the previous day that the Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, which are under the control of pro-Russian separatists in Ukraine, and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions captured by the Russian army have joined Russia. It was reported that the strategic city of Lyman, which was under Russian control for a long time, was besieged by the Ukrainian army before the declaration of annexation, which caused reactions in the world.
UKRAINIAN ARMY RETURNED MANY PLACES
The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced that it entered the city of Lyman yesterday and hung the Ukrainian flag in the city. The Russian Ministry of Defense also stated that “Due to the threat of siege, allied troops withdrew from Krasny Port settlement to more advantageous places”.
The tension that started within Russia after the Ukrainian army recaptured many places in the east of the country from the Russian army in recent weeks has grown even more with the latest development.
Putin’s allies lashed out
Chechnya leader Ramazan Kadyrov, who is one of the closest people to Russian leader Putin and sent his fighters to Ukraine, accused the Russian army of “incompetence” and said, “The incompetent general should be sent to the front to clean his shame with blood.” Kadyrov also said that the Russian army should use nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
Oligarch Yevgeni Prigozin, who is one of the names close to Putin and who is also known as the name behind the Russian paramilitary organization Wagner Group, targeted the Russian commanders with harsh words and said, “Send these pieces of garbage to the front with guns in their hands.”
It is stated that there has been increased criticism of Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu within the army and the Kremlin due to the recent failures of the Russian army in the field. After Russia lost many places in eastern Ukraine, Putin announced partial mobilization in Russia at the end of last month. This step drew the reaction of Russia’s allies, China and India , as well as many countries .
